Youth Art Exchange (YAX), San Francisco (2015-2017)
In the summer of 2017, through YAX, I was selected to be a part of the Trade Exploration Internship, in which YAX partnered with the commercial construction contractor, Webcore. All of the participants became OSHA approved and visited many different job sites, being exposed to the many trade and job opportunities. We also were able to go into the Salesforce tower while it was still under construction and help build part of a wall.
In the summer of 2016, I applied for and received another architectural internship through YAX. This time we built a seating pavilion for the Muni bus stop in front of John O’Connell High School in San Francisco. We worked in the woodworking shop on the campus of the high school to complete the project and did in-depth research on pavilions and urban development.
In the summer of 2015, I applied for and received an architecture internship at the Youth Art Exchange (YAX). In the internship, we were trained on using industrial power tools and were commissioned to design a dragon sculpture for the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. We took the project from concept to completion and presented the final project to the city at the end of the summer.
Personal Assistant at Stitch - San Francisco Interior Design Company (2010 - 2020)
I have been working for Rachael Brune at Stitch since 2010. I started out walking her five dogs and collecting her mail. As I got older she gave me more responsibilities to finally become a personal assistant/delivery person for her Interior Design business, Stitch. I receive deliveries and break down the large items that are delivered to her business. I also go on house calls with her to record measurements and take photos of the site. I deliver materials in San Francisco and throughout the bay area to her clients and storage areas. Lastly, I do general maintenance around her house (calking, painting, spackling, furniture installs)
Martha Brothers Coffee Shop Cashier/Barista, San Francisco (2014-2015)
In the summer of 2014, I started working at the Martha Brothers Coffee Shop that was in my neighborhood. I worked there for the 2014 and 2015 summers as a Cashier and sandwich maker.
San Francisco Skate Club Junior Leader, (2012-2013)
After getting a scholarship through the Breakthrough SF program to attend the SF Skate club in 2011, the owner of the business asked me to return to the camp next summer as a Joiner Leader. San Francisco Skate Club strives to provide a safe, positive, and fun environment for youth of diverse backgrounds to pursue their passion or desire to skateboard, meet and form friendships with other young skaters, and learn from experienced skateboarders who are role models in the community. I helped keep the campers organized and under control when inside the transport van and when at the destinations. I was a Junior Leader at the SF Skate club from 2012 - 2013.
Volunteer Work:
Glide Memorial Church, San Francisco (2010 - Present)
Glide Memorial Church is a very important place for myself as well as many other people in San Francisco. This is the church that I regularly attend and enjoy the choir and band. I have volunteered at Glide memorial church many times in the soup kitchen that serves 2000 meals per day to the homeless. I have also volunteered in the back as a dishwasher multiple times to help the soup kitchen.
